Terms and conditions

By booking tickets with Merton Priory you are agreeing to and are bound by the terms and conditions listed below. Your statutory rights are not affected. Tickets booked via authorised Third Parties are subject to their terms and conditions and any queries regarding the purchase must be directed back to the point of sale.

Concessions and Friends’ discounts

Concessions are available for students, over 60s, unwaged and disabled visitors. Proof or ID for each concession will need to be seen upon entry. Carers for persons with disabilities are entitled to free admission to public events and exhibitions (subject to availability).

Friends are entitled to free or discounted entry to selected events, as advertised on our events listing page.

Booking and collecting your tickets

Payment and security

Merton Priory uses Eventbrite for all event ticket registration. Security and privacy information is available at the point of sale.

When you book tickets online for events at Merton Priory we will collect personal information about you. This information is used for the fulfilment of your order and feedback only.

Ticket Delivery

Merton Priory operates a guest list system for all public events.

Once you have confirmed or paid for your order your name will be added the guest lists to the event(s); we do not send tickets in the post.

You do not need to print tickets, however, for speed of entry, we recommend presenting your QR code (where applicable) when checking in for your event or giving us the surname of the ticket booker on the door.

Admission to exhibitions, talks, performances and other events.

We strongly recommend that visitors arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of an event where that event is timed, e.g. 6:30 pm – 11 pm, arrive at 6:20 pm.

No food or drink from outside Merton Priory is allowed in the building unless express permission is granted or advertised.

Recording equipment is only allowed upon request if there is written consent from the organiser or from Merton Priory

Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the building

Mobile phones, pagers and watches should be silenced before the start of events, and turned off if instructed to by the host of an event or staff member.

Access

Contact details of events organisers are available at the point of sale. If you have any concerns about accessing Merton Priory or wish to notify us of any special access requirements in advance of your visit, contact us via email at info@mertonpriory.org. Security

Visitors are requested to keep their personal belongings with them at all times.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Unpaid reservations

We regret that we cannot take any unpaid reservations for any events where there is a fee for entry.

Conditions of Sale and Exchanges

Every member of the audience (where applicable) must have validated entry.

Merton Priory reserves the right to refuse admission or attendance to any patron.

Merton Priory reserves the right to make any alterations to an advertised programme rendered necessary by unavoidable causes.

Buying Returns

Merton Priory will operate an advance waiting list for sold out performances. If any tickets are returned, the waiting list will be contacted in chronological order and at the discretion of the Box Office up until 6 pm the day before the performance. After that time the advance waiting list will close and all returns will be in person only at the Box Office, starting from one hour before the performance begins.

Refunds and Exchanges

Refunds will be issued if an event has been cancelled. You will be contacted if an event is cancelled or if there is a major change to an event.

Exchanges are accepted at the absolute discretion of Merton Priory and its partners. Requests for transfers and exchanges can be made directly to event organisers or to Merton Priory via email at info@mertonpriory.org.

In the event that you are unable to attend an event, lecture or course organised by Merton Priory, you will be eligible for a refund if you request one via Eventbrite up to 24 hours before the event.

If you wish to return tickets on the day of an event, Merton Priory will endeavour to sell these provided we are completely sold out.

In the event that you are unable to attend an event organised by a third party, contact the organisers directly or Merton Priory via email at info@mertonpriory.org for information on refunds, as policy may vary.

Admission for latecomers is discretionary and subject to availability on the night. Merton Priory reserves the right to release any tickets that have not been collected 10 minutes after events have started.

By buying a ticket or attending an event at Merton Priory, you give your consent to being filmed, audio recorded or photographed. Please notify a member of staff if you do not wish to be filmed or photographed.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

Merton Priory conforms to the Data Protection Act 2018.

Accessing our site

Access to our site is permitted on a temporary basis, and we reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service we provide on our site without notice (see below). We will not be liable if for any reason our site is unavailable at any time or for any period.

Intellectual property rights

We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our site, and in the material published on it.  Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world.  All such rights are reserved.

You may print off copies and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our site for your personal reference and you may draw the attention of others within your organisation to material posted on our site.

You must not modify the paper or digital copies of any materials you have printed off or downloaded in any way without permission and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.

Our status (and that of any identified contributors) as the authors of material on our site must always be acknowledged.

You must not use any part of the materials on our site for commercial purposes without obtaining a licence to do so from us or our licensors.

If you print off, copy or download any part of our site in breach of these terms of use, your right to use our site will cease immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies of the materials you have made.

Our site changes regularly

We aim to update our site regularly and may change the content at any time. If the need arises, we may suspend access to our site, or close it indefinitely. Any of the material on our site may be out of date at any given time, and we are under no obligation to update such material.

Our liability

The material displayed on our site is provided without any guarantees, conditions or warranties as to its accuracy. To the extent permitted by law, we, and third parties connected to us hereby expressly exclude:

  • All conditions, warranties and other terms which might otherwise be implied by statute, common law or the law of equity.
  • Any liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage incurred by any user in connection with our site or in connection with the use, inability to use, or results of the use of our site, any websites linked to it and any materials posted on it, including, without limitation any liability for:

Information about you and your visits to our site

We process information about you in accordance with our privacy policy.  By using our site, you consent to such processing and you warrant that all data provided by you is accurate.

Viruses, hacking and other offences

You must not misuse our site by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material which is malicious or technologically harmful. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our site, the server on which our site is stored or any server, computer or database connected to our site. You must not attack our site via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of service attack.

By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and we will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them. In the event of such a breach, your right to use our site will cease immediately.

We will not be liable for any loss or damage caused by a distributed denial-of-service attack, viruses or other technologically harmful material that may infect your computer equipment, computer programs, data or other proprietary material due to your use of our site or to your downloading of any material posted on it, or on any website linked to it.

Where our site contains links to other sites and resources provided by third parties, these links are provided for your information only.  We have no control over the contents of those sites or resources and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.  When accessing a site via our website we advise you check their terms of use and privacy policies to ensure compliance and determine how they may use your information.

Jurisdiction and applicable law

The English courts will have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any claim arising from, or related to, a visit to our site.
